Welcome to Ann Arbor!
The IEEE Great Lakes Technology Symposium (GLTS) brings together the federal funding agencies, academia, tech-transfer offices, high-tech business community, business accelerators and the investment community. The aim of the Symposium is to educate academia and the technology business community on federal funding trends and facilitate dialog among the participants on technology transfer and commercialization. The Symposium has a Midwest/Great Lakes focus and its long-term goal is to help transition the Midwest economy from manufacturing to knowledge-based. Though the participation is open to all those interested in the subject matter, the following states (listed in alphabetical order) are the target of the symposium: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The inaugural 2010 IEEE GLTS is being held at the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is organized by the Trident Chapter (Chapter IV) of IEEE Southeastern Michigan Section, which represents AP, MTT and ED societies. The technical focus of the 2010 Symposium are the fields of interest of the above societies, i.e., Electromagnetic Waves, Microwaves, radio-frequency (RF), Antennas, Radiation, Wireless Communications, Sensing, RF MEMS, RFID, and Electron and Ion Devices; the subject matter covered in future years may be broader or narrower. The organizers are pleased with the strong participation from leading mid-west universities, state institutions and businesses. The intention is to hold the symposium every other year at a different Midwest location with the leadership of a local IEEE chapter. Individuals and/or chapter officers interested in organizing the symposium in 2012, 2014 and beyond are encouraged to contact the organizers of the 2010 Symposium at info@ieeegreatlakes.org.
